Care & Maintenance

Gardens are alive, and like people have needs and obstacles that need to be surmounted. Gentle stewardship, like hand pruning and trimming, allows for abundant growth and alleviates potential issues with disease. We plant for our climate, and your specific environment. Lori’s goal is for your plantings to grow - and thrive - for decades to come.

No one we know of loves to talk about drainage or other ecological functions, as much as Lori does. Designs need symmetry, balance and focal points; most of all they need to function. Lori works with natural processes as much as possible to encourage your unique environment to thrive.

Gentle Stewardship

We’re not strip mining, and you’ll rarely see Lori’s team use tools more advanced then shovels, pruners, and sheers. That’s because your outdoor living space is a living organism that’s encouraged careful intervention, respect, and proper care.

Sloped Steps

Strategic stone work can help diminish erosion while adding a focal point that welcomes guests. Lori’s designs are always more than the sum of their parts.

Window Well Eco-Drain

Most homes are built quickly, but even the best builds need upgrades occasionally. Here we addressed a leaky basement window with gravel, stone, and root systems; all working together to create harmony in their outdoor living space.

Rounded Stone Retaining Wall

Creating beautiful transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces lends a feeling of ease, and peace. This client wanted a focal point to draw them out of their kitchen and into their garden. This rounded stone wall will last for generations, and bring beauty to their everyday living.

Privacy Screenings

Visibly stark transitions between properties can make a space feel small. This client had a fence and no coverage for the three neighbors in the abutting properties. This curved retaining wall offered a feeling of expansiveness, and focal point for their patio, while taking the eye away from the property line.
